Well done to our U15's basketball team who started their season off with a win against Walton Le Dale.
Congratulations to Jenson Warren who finished 7th in the Junior Boys section, at Lancashire Schools Cross Country, on Saturday 18th January 2020.
Our Year 7 and 8 boys took part in the South Ribble Indoor Athletics competition held at Lostock Hall on Monday 2nd December.
Our Year 7 team travelled over to Colne, in December, to play against Fishermoore High School.
Congratulations to the Year 7 boys' 7-a-side squad who have won the initial group stage of the Lancashire County Cup beating Worden and All Hallows.
A huge well done to our Year 8 and 9 netball teams who won their first match of this season against Brownedge St Mary's on Tuesday 8th October.

In July 2019, Phoebe Rogerson in Year 7, travelled to Portugal to represent England in the Dance World Cup.

It was another scorching day for Balshaw's annual Sports Day in which the best athletes from each House competed in a range of Athletic events.

A few months ago our year 8 indoor athletics teams attended the South Ribble competition.
Our U15s indoor cricket team were excellent again as they represented the school and South Ribble at the Lancashire regional stage of the competition.
On 1st March Sports Development organised their annual primary schools dance event and 6 of our year 8 Dance Club members helped to lead the morning's event.
Adam Butler, in Year 11, has been busy over the last few weeks winning a gold medal in judo at both the Midlands and North West Area Open competitions.
Ella McBride and Isla Gee, in Year 7, competed in the South Ribble Schools Trampolining Championships both performing 2 great routines each.
On Friday 23rd February the Balshaw's Year 10 Handball team went to represent South Ribble at the Lancashire School Games Handball competition held at UCLAN.
On Monday 26th February our U13s cricket team represented Balshaw's and the district at the Lancashire regional round of the Chance to Shine Indoor cricket competition.
Congratulations to Poppy Glasby Seddon, in Year 10, who came 2nd in the 300m U17s Northern indoor athletics championships in Sheffield on Saturday 13th January.

We are delighted to hear that, Adam has been re-selected for the England Judo Squad and his sister, Livia, has been selected for the Northern Area England Development Squad.

At the end of September, Mrs Lupton, Mrs Jackson and Mrs Fletcher took 26 of our netballers to our second PGL weekend at Boreatton Park in Shrewsbury for a netball tournament and activity weekend!

Our year 10 rounders team beat every team that they played against in the South Ribble tournament on Monday 8th May.
Year 8 student Ethan Warren was first reserve for the Lancashire Schools Junior Boys Cross Country Team and was drafted in at the last minute to replace an injured athlete.
Year 9 students Charla Elliott, Hollie Unsworth, Emmy McGillivray and Year 8 student Ellie Telford are members of the Infinity Cheer cheerleading group.
Jason Harris, in Year 9, is a member of North Lancashire & Fylde Junior County Crown Green Bowling team and he also plays for the Fox Lane club in Leyland for their ‘A’ team in both the Chorley & District Senior and Junior leagues.
Maddison has been ice-skating for two years. She is coached by Linzi Deacon, herself an ex-professional ice-skater at Nation level.

Year 9 student Rachael Procter recently represented Lancashire Girls under 15 Squash Team in the Inter County Championships.
On Thursday 2nd February, Mrs Lupton and Mrs Coburn took 15 of our Year 10 and 11 students to watch an International netball match between England Roses and New Zealand Silver Ferns at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.

This summer Cameron, in Year 11, attended trials for the Lancashire U18 squad and was successful in achieving a place as goalkeeper. A significant achievement I am sure you will agree given that the remainder of the squad are college students of 16 and 17.
A huge well done to our U13 Girls Football team who finished runners up in the first round of the Kinder Premier League Girls 8 a side football competition last week.
On Saturday 15th October approximately 30 of our students represented the school at the South Ribble Cross Country Championships.

The annual Lancashire County Tennis Championships took place at Bolton Arena in the last week of August. These Championships saw competitors ranging from 8 and under to 75+ competing in various age categories throughout the week.
Sophie Wood is a superstar golfer. She has been playing for five years and is still only 13 years old!!

Alex Moore, in Year 8, is a member of the Lancashire U14s boys’ tennis team and they took part in the recent National County Tennis finals at the Nottingham Tennis Centre.
On Wednesday 27th April there was an Interhouse Athletics competition for Year 10 and 11 students.
Adam Butler, in Year 9, has had yet more success as he represented Balshaw's at the British Schools Champions winning a silver medal.

Kyo Tanner has had a very busy time over in Summer taking part in a different swim events and securing his place in future competitions.

Kyo has been very successful again with his swimming. He has won a fabulous amount of medals and once again achieved a number of personal best times during the North West Regional Championships.

Chloe Fazackerley has won the Under 15 Championship of the Lancashire Schools Golf Association. The event was held at Leyland Golf Club on Thursday 4th June 2015.
Three of our girls volunteered to help out at a mini-squash roadshow and raise money for the Heartbeat charity. They are all members of the Leyland Lions Juniors Squash and Racketball club.

On a very chilly Monday evening, 2nd February 2015, our Year 7 Netball team travelled to Penwortham Priory Academy to play their very first competitive match!

In December 2014 there was a Minisquash event held for local Primary Schools.
Olivia Cooke is a very talented young footballer. She started playing for Preston North at the age of 10 and then moved on to Blackburn Rovers Academy.
Teri Williams is a very talented young Gymnast. She has been doing gymnastics since the age of 3 and trains at Garstang School of Gymnastics 5 days a week- for a minimum of 15 hours!
Another fantastic Interhouse competition was held on 27th November. All Houses fielded strong teams made up of a mix of our Year 10 and 11 boys.
The Balshaw’s Under 16 Table Tennis team are officially the best school team in the borough after comprehensively winning the Elite Table Tennis.
The Year 7 Interhouse football was a massive success once again with over 40 boys present after school to represent their house.

This year our Interhouse Cross Country competition had to be put back a few weeks due to very poor weather on the original date.
On Wednesday 12th November many of our boys turned out to represent their House in the first Interhouse competition of the year – the Yr 8/9 combined Football.
The year 11 football team have got off to another brilliant start this season. Having won the league and cup double last season the main goal for this year is to go one better and aim to win the Lancashire County Cup.
Balshaw’s travelled to Morecambe in the first round of the Lancashire Cup determined to make amends for their semi-final loss two years ago.
