We were delighted to welcome popular children’s author Phil Earle to school on Monday 4th November.

Our Year 7 students were thrilled to have an audience with Phil, where they were able to listen to Phil talk about his life, being an author and his inspiration for his novel ‘When The Sky Falls’.

This book was the chosen text for our current Year 7 students to read when they joined Balshaw’s in September. It is a very moving tale, inspired by a true story, where we read about the friendship of a young boy called Joseph and a silverback gorilla called Adonis. Our children and staff our enjoying the book immensely and you can read more about their thoughts here.

You can see some photographs from Phil's visit below:

We also have the following wonderful display in our Library about Phil and the book. This was created by our amazing Librarian, Dr Breen. She really brings the Library to life and our students adore spending time in there!

You can read more about Phil Earle here.
