Design and Technology Curriculum

We aim to deliver a high-quality Design and Technology education that equips students to design, make, and evaluate purposeful products. Our focus is on developing technical skills, creativity, and confidence in using a range of materials and processes safely, including CAD and digital technologies. Students learn to communicate ideas effectively, understand design principles, and explore the history and impact of technological innovation with an emphasis on sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Our curriculum builds on primary skills and inspires creativity, problem-solving, and independent learning through practical projects. Lessons are challenging yet supportive, encouraging teamwork, safety awareness, and consideration of social, cultural, and environmental factors. Students work with a variety of materials and contexts, applying technical knowledge to real-world challenges.

By the end of Year 9, students can apply technical knowledge to solve contextualised design briefs, communicate ideas clearly, and critically evaluate their own work and that of others, preparing them for future study and careers in a technological society.
