Our students took part in an inspiring workshop delivered by Mrs Finch from CREATE Education, exploring the world of 3D printing, digital skills, and modern engineering. During the session, students learned how ideas become physical objects- starting from sketches and 3D modelling, through slicing, and finally printing their own components using the 3D printer.
The workshop also showcased the wide range of industries now using 3D printing, including product design, animation, manufacturing, and custom product development. Students discovered how digital skills such as problem‑solving, creativity, coding logic, and design thinking are essential in many future careers.
As part of the hands-on activities, students began designing and preparing parts for their own rocket project, using industry-standard CAD software to create nosecones and fins. This experience gave them valuable insight into real engineering processes while encouraging teamwork, perseverance, and innovation.
