LASSH Chair
- The Chair is required to attend three LASSH Officers on-line meetings (each approx. 1 hour) per year, Chair and host three LASSH Exec meetings per year (this could be in your own school or shared around willing colleagues), and Chair and host three LASSH conferences a year.
- Also, be a point of contact or be a sounding board for Heads who may seek advice or the support of the LASSH body.
- To a certain extent, the Chair will influence the direction that LASSH and its members take.
- Oversee the LASSH Budget and spends
- Foster collaboration between all schools in Lancashire – including linking in with the lead from Primary Schools in Lancashire (PHiL)
- Interface between the Heads and the LA
- Interface with local senior Police personnel
- Interface with representatives of LCC
School
- Generate annual LASSH Membership invoices using mail merge of the data base of LASSH schools (maintained by the Admin Support).
- Keep financial records of the LASSH accounts.
- Generate purchase orders for conference bookings (hotel booking and speakers).
- Process Hotel Invoice on the day of the Conference.
- Process payments and reimbursements of all LASSH expenditure.
- Reconcile income in line with the invoices.
- Host (with refreshments) the LASSH Exec meetings – Autumn, Spring & Summer terms.
LASSH Admin Support (Paid position)
- The Admin Support distributes notes/emails/messages from the Local Authority, EPOs and Heads.
- Deals with sundry queries from Heads and escalating these if/when required.
- Organises the three Exec Meetings per year, inviting the District leads and key LA people, arranging refreshments, taking minutes and distributing these to attendees afterwards, and dealing with Action Points as they occur from the meeting.
- Organises the three conferences at a central hotel – including booking the venue in good time, organising any guest key-note speakers, draw up the Agenda to include any other guest speakers and create a running order and timing. Sends out invites and monitors replies (incl. sending numerous chasers to the busy Heads), dealing with the hotel with regards equipment, layout, timings, menu and numbers. Be present on the day to oversee the event and be the point of contact for the speakers and the hotel. Ensure school makes the payment ON THE DAY (against a VAT invoice so VAT can be reclaimed), and deal with any matters arising on the day and post event.
- Maintain a database of Secondary schools and their heads – and keep it up to date with regards to contact details which are constantly changing.
- Maintain the LASSH Handbook – keeping it up to date with regards to Heads and their contact details which are constantly changing.
- Keeping the Police up to date with contact details for all the schools. Equally, any changes to the Police contact list need to be cascaded to the Heads and EPOs if appropriate.
- Distribute the weekly LA Bulletin to all Heads.
- This is a paid position:
- In 2024/2025 it was paid at an hourly rate of £16.62
- In 2024/2025 it involved ~200 hours
(The present incumbent has no background in Education and cannot do shorthand – but gets by! The role just needs to be undertaken by someone who has the capacity of time, is flexible and is organised and methodical)
