On Thursday 21st March, Balshaw's hosted Lostock Hall in the Under 14s girls' Lancashire Cup quarter finals. After 30 seconds it didn't look great for Balshaw's as we were 1-0 down and then after 5 minutes the score was 3-0 against us. It took a moment of magic from Daisy B to bring us back to 3-1, before a Lostock Hall replied to make it 4-1 and then just before half time, yet another Daisy B response to make the scoreline 4-2!

There was a huge mountain to climb but the girls had one simple instruction “do not decline” and a decision was made to change shape going from a 4-4-2 to a 4-3-3. Twenty minutes go by and Balshaw's scored 4 more goals to make it 6-4. Kate A, in the captain role, demonstrating why she is a wonderful role model to the team. Daisy B completed her hattrick and an unfortunate mistake from the Lostock Hall goalkeeper turning the tide after a Lacey W shot on target. Lostock Hall then made it 6-5. That swiftly changed to 6-6 in the matter of minutes courtesy of Kate A with a wonder goal to seal the victory and then Daisy B putting the game to bed helping Balshaw’s to win 8-6...

What a wonderful display of football from everyone, well done to all the players.

We look forward to their next game in the Lancashire Cup semi-final!
