Our Year 7 & 8 Cricket team played in their first hardball fixture on 8th July. They played against a mixed Hutton team with both A and B team players fielding for the opposition.

Ethan L captained the side and lost the toss at the start, meaning Hutton decided to field first. Not to worry though as our students hit 111 runs with 9 outs after 20 overs. A special mention to Alfie L with an incredible 34 runs after coming back in at the end after having to retire at 20 runs originally. Three more special mentions go to Joe C running 17 runs, Jake B scoring a 4 straight after entering the field of play, and may I add who doesn't play for a club outside of school, along with Frasier M for doing a fantastic job at wicket keeping considering he has never played outside of school also!

It was then our turn to field and every player bowled comfortably, not giving away many wides and Hutton only scoring 84 runs with 7 out after 20 overs, with Ethan L, Isaac B, Sam P and Leighton S taking the 7 wickets between them.

  • Balshaw's 111-9
  • Hutton 84-7

A beautiful day for the weather, and an even better experience for our school Cricketers in a comfortable friendly victory.

Well done everyone.

Mr O’Neill
