We are thrilled to share that Megan, who left Balshaw’s in June 2025, is following her passion and has secured a place at the Steven Gerrard Academy, on their Sports Media course.

Megan decided to follow her passion for football and decided that college wasn’t her chosen route, she decided that she was going to travel to the outskirts of Liverpool (a four hour round trip each day, four trains, three changes!) to join the Steven Gerrard Academy to do Sports Media the course offered so many opportunities that college couldn’t. Megan’s dream is to be a football correspondent on TV and radio and she’s already started with being selected to interview BBC Assistant Commissioner Lizzie Doyle (shown in the photo) last week! She is looking forward to the opportunity of visiting the Anfield Wrap (a very prestigious podcast for any football fan but definitely for a staunch Liverpool Supporter). Megan is excited for the potential upcoming trips to Spain, Italy and Dubai over the coming months to follow the teams, document and expand her portfolio!
Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you to and all the staff at Balshaws for giving Megan the opportunity to be the best she could be to have that commitment within herself to take this new step on her own meet new people and never say no when asked!

Megan worked really hard during her GCSE exams and achieved great grades, along with being a dedicated House Captain for Cuerden House. Megan was a delightful student, and despite having dealt with number of difficult health issues, is determined to pursue her dreams!
Congratulations Megan, you are a true Balshavian! We are very proud of you and look forward to hearing more about your future career!
