In February 2026, we were delighted to welcome the Rt. Rev. Dr, Joe Kennedy, Bishop of Burnley to Balshaw's.
As we continue to develop our Christian Vision at every level of our school, some of our Curriculum Leaders had the opportunity to discuss how our Christian Values and Ethos impact their subjects, and the teaching of our students.
Our Student Worship & Ethos Committee met with Bishop Joe, along with our Chaplain Luke Blakeley, and they reflected on our regular Acts of Collective Worship. They were invited to share their views and impressions, and Bishop Joe gave insight into the purpose and importance of these Acts of Worship.
Finally, Bishop Joe joined a Year 10 RE Lesson that was led by Mrs Latimer, our Curriculum Leader for RE. Where he shared his journey of faith and answered questions put to him by the students.
We were very thankful that Bishop Joe found the time to join us at Balshaw's for what was a fruitful and encouraging visit.
