On Wednesday 20th May, our U14 girls’ team took part in the Lancashire Cup Final.
Our team were really unfortunate to go 1-0 down in the first 24 seconds, after which they played so well! The girls had so many chances in the first half to equalise before the Saint Michael's team scored again to be 2-0 up just before half time.
The girls dominated the second half with the cross bar being hit twice, the post was hit once and a couple of 1v1's were put over the bar or wide of the goal, sadly it just wasn't meant to be on this occasion.
The effort, attitude and pride our girls showed during the match was unbelievable and even after a Darcey’s wonder goal with 11 minutes to go, it just wasn't enough to make Saint Michael's panic, as they squeezed a goal with 2 minutes left to seal their 3-1 victory.
The whole team have made me really proud, along with our department and the whole school. However and most importantly, they can hold their heads high with pride.
Well done to you all!
Mr O’Neill
