I would like to invite you to attend our Year 9 In-Person Parents’ Evening on Thursday 12th March 2026. This is an important opportunity for you to meet your child's teachers and discuss their progress since September, as well as their potential GCSE option choices for Key Stage 4.

The evening will take place face-to-face in school, and appointments must be booked using our online system through Synergy. The system allows you to choose convenient appointment times with teachers. Please refer to the step-by-step guide below for booking appointments in Synergy.

The Parents' Evening step-by-step guide can be found here.

To ensure that all parents and carers have the opportunity to speak with teachers, appointments will be limited to five minutes. A countdown timer will be displayed in each meeting area to help ensure that appointments start and finish on time. A minimum five-minute break between appointments has also been scheduled to allow time to move between locations.

In the interests of fairness to all families, we will not be able to extend or rearrange appointments on the evening itself. It will therefore not be possible to “drop in” to see teachers if an appointment is missed or if you arrive late. Only one appointment per teacher, per child, can be booked.

Appointments can only be made by the parent or carer listed as the priority one contact on the school system. Where parents live in separate households, we ask that you liaise with each other regarding attendance.

Appointments can be booked from 3.10pm on Thursday 5th March and will remain open until 1.00pm on Thursday 12th March. School doors will open at 3.50pm, with the first appointments beginning at 4.00pm.

Appointments will take place in three main areas of the school: the Dance Studio, the Main School Hall, and the two restaurant areas. On arrival, parents and carers will be provided with information showing where each teacher is located.

If a teacher’s appointments are fully booked, please contact them directly by email, and they will respond to your query.

If you experience any difficulties booking appointments through the Synergy system, please contact the school by phone or email and we will be happy to assist (enquiries@balshaws.org.uk).

We look forward to welcoming you to school and discussing your child's progress.

Kind regards,

Mr A. Holland
Assistant Headteacher
