Sam Waddington Wins Prestigious Sanderson Golf Trophy

Sam has been awarded the Sanderson Golf Trophy, a prestigious award commemorating the memory of Barry Sanderson, a beloved teacher and fellow golfer at Leyland Golf Club. The trophy was presented by Balshaw's High School Chair of Governors, Keith Woodcock, at the school's recent awards ceremony.

Barry Sanderson, a member of Balshaw's Maths department from 1974, passed away suddenly at the school on February 12, 1996. A respected and admired educator, Barry was deeply respected by both students and colleagues. His passion for sports, particularly golf, was evident in his dedication to coaching the school's golf team.

The Sanderson Golf Trophy, initiated in 1996, has been awarded to a distinguished line of Leyland Golf Club members, including P. Brierley (1997), J. Fox (2005), and J. Roscoe (2022). This prestigious award honours Barry Sanderson's legacy of excellence in education, sports, and the golf community.

We congratulate Sam Waddington on this well-deserved recognition and remember our heartfelt appreciation to Barry Sanderson for his contributions to Balshaw's School and Leyland Golf Club. His dedication and passion for golf continue to inspire aspiring golfers like Sam.
