GCHQ's National Language Competition

Congratulations to some of our Year 9 students who took part in GCHQ's National Language Competition.

This was a week-long event from the 6th to the 10th of November 2023 aimed at Year 9 students across the UK. It involved teams of up to 4 students working together to tackle a variety of fun, immersive, language-themed challenges hosted on a virtual platform. The aim of the competition is to give students an idea of how language skills can be useful in the world of national intelligence and security.

The students worked hard to have a go at the puzzles on the platform. 

There was a range of language-related puzzles, ranging from easy to difficult. The puzzles were made up of European languages, languages less commonly taught in schools and even made-up languages! 

The level of skill and perseverance needed to complete these challenges was high and we are very proud of the amount of effort and dedication shown.
