Autumn and Emily, two of our wonderful Year 11 students, embodied the spirit of Christmas by participating in the Jingle All The Way Charity Walk for Derian House on Saturday 9th November 2024. This annual event, held in Chorley, covers an impressive 15 miles and attracts thousands of people in Santa outfits to support this worthy cause

Autumn and Emily have written the following lovely words about their experience:

Autumn

Doing the Derian House Charity walk was an amazing experience and has been for the past 5 years I have done it. It brings the Christmas feeling early on and it is so nice to see a community of people gathering together to help people in need. It teaches me that the true meaning of Christmas isn't about presents its about being grateful for what you have. The walk gave me time to bond with my friends and my family. It was an experience I think everyone should experience at least once. I love doing things for charity and I think it was a great way to bring the Christmas spirit, whilst raising money for people less fortunate than us.

Emily
When I wrote this, we had helped to raise £27,000 during the Santa walk. The keep up our Christmas spirit, we sang Christmas songs during the whole 15 miles. We were offered many chocolate bars and fruit snacks to keep us going. We did the walk with my family and Autumn’s family. The sun shone all day!

The girls certainly look like they enjoyed taking part!

We are incredibly proud of the Autumn, Emily and their families for helping to raise so much money for this very worthy charity. They are certainly following our school motto of ‘non sibi sed aliis’ – ‘not for self, but for others’

The Jingle All The Way event has been a remarkable success, with the current total reaching an impressive £46,000. This money will make a difference on the families supported by Derian House.
