Well, what a super day, our Balfest and Family Fun Day was, and we couldn’t have wished for better weather!

The day started off with the grand opening at 11am by the Mayor and Mayoress and they were joined by our incoming Head Boy, Ewan and Head Girl, Milly. Ewan and Milly made sure that the Mayor and Mayoress had a great day that included a tour of the activities and a delicious afternoon tea.

We are incredibly lucky to be able to showcase such a wonderful range of talented musical performers, that included our current students, former students, staff and special guests. Zac and Esme did a most wonderful job of compering the acts.

There were a variety of amazing stalls – including wooden creations, wax melts, jewellery, scarves, painted plant pots, pocket money toys, games etc and not forgetting our legendary tombola!

Refreshments were aplenty with delicious pizzas and hotdogs, ever popular slushies, snacks and Robinsons ice cream.

Lots of fun was had on the giant inflatable, hook-a-duck, paintball, coconut shy, twister, giant Jenga, fun games; beat the lemon, buzz wire and play your cards right, along with a fun penalty shootout, that the Mayor and Mayoress also took part in, against our very own star Year 11 footballer Finlay M – you can read more about our amazing Year 11 team here.

In addition, we were delighted to welcome back the North West Reptile Association and their collection of exotic pets who are always very popular and marvellous as ever! You can see more on their website here.

We welcomed representatives from Leyland Squadron RAF cadets, St.Catherine’s Hospice, Waitrose, Lancashire Fire and Rescue, Utility warehouse and Moments Matter.

Rosie, our Emotional Support dog, came along too and she had the most wonderful time meeting everyone. She even wore her snazzy bandana!

Our raffle this year was particularly magnificent and prizes including a hairdryer and hair tools from celebrity hairdresser and former Balshavian Michael Douglas. We still have a number of unclaimed prizes and you can see the details here.

To help to support the event we had a whole school house cup challenge and asked our tutor groups to donate £1 or bring in chocolate for the tombola. The winning tutor group were CU1 & Mrs Wilson, so thank you and well done to them. All members of the group won a free entry wristband.

We are so grateful for our dedicated staff, students, PTA, volunteers and supporters who give up their time to make this day so much fun!

A huge thank you to everyone who come along to support our event in any way. The total amount raised was just under £1,800 – which is incredible!
