On Tuesday 18th June 2024, the Business & Computing Department took a large group of Year 10 and Year 9 students on a trip to the JCB World Headquarters in Staffordshire. On arrival at the VIP Visitor Experience, everyone was given a distinctive JCB branded lanyard to wear and had some refreshments.

The group then went to the theatre to learn about how JCB started as a company and watched a film about its’ history. The group was split into three smaller groups, and each did a tour of the factory and learned lots of information about the manufacturing and production techniques used by the business, as well as lots of interesting facts.

There was also a tour of ‘The Story of JCB’ which told you about how the business started as a small company to where it is today as a Global manufacturer. Students also had the opportunity to take a look around the JCB shop and some purchased souvenirs of the day.

At the end of the morning, everyone had lunch before returning on the coach back to school. Students really enjoyed the trip and they were able to relate to what they had learned in the classroom to seeing a actual business in operation.
