On Friday 6th June, our U16s girls' team were in action in the South Ribble Cup final against Penwortham Priory.
After a great start from both teams, our team managed to settle any nerves through a Kate A 'Worldie' into the top right corner from the near post, before Emily W scored a quick-fire brace to make it 3-0. Kate A's goal was staggering and Emily W's second was unbelievable..one touch to get the ball from out of her feet outside the box closest to the left touch line.... BANG, top right, the keeper had no chance.
Imogen C then continued to increase the score with 2 great goals meaning that the score at half time was 5-1!
Priory played really well and caused us trouble early doors in the second half, bringing the game back to 5-3, before Emily W completed her hat trick to make it 6-3, Priory making the game 6-4, before Kate A got her hat trick to make it 7-4.
With only 10 minutes left, Jess H decided she wanted a goal, but then changed her mind and thought that 2 would be better to make it 9-4 and our girls are CHAMPIONS!!!
An unbelievable send off for our U16's girls to go into the summer break with, especially for our Year 11 girls who have a kicked a football for school for the final time.
An emotional afternoon, but one to go in the history books!!!
